Rhiannon was lost.
Well, maybe lost wasn't a good word, since every street lead someplace, except this particular street lead nowhere she was familiar with. Which wasn't surprising, considering exactly how little she knew of Los Angeles. Getting completely disoriented at night in this city was not a good experience, and it taught her that, if she wanted to arrive home at decent hours, she was better of calling a cab. But no! She had to walk back home on foot. Sure. As if Los Angeles was as small and navigable as her hometown.
She'd decided it was a good idea to just have dinner out. She didn't feel like staying home alone after her grandmother had left for the Goddess knew where, without definite plans on when she'd return. After closing the store, Rhiannon had relaxed a bit around the apartment, a necessary endeavor after the day she'd had, but soon enough she'd grown tired of the silence. Although she'd only been living with her grandmother for little over a week, she was already missing Siobhan's loud voice and boisterous presence, which seemed to liven the apartment.
Almost two hours later, she was trying to find her way home, but it was proving to be annoyingly difficult (and dangerous, since it was, after all, Los Angeles at night) to do so. She'd gotten completely turned around and was probably half-way across the city by now (slight exaggeration, granted, but it surely felt like that). As for cabs, they seem to be surprisingly absent. Rhiannon hadn't seen one pass by in almost twenty minutes, which was adding insult to injury. At this point, she really just wanted to get into some transport whose driver knew where to go. Unlike her.
As she walked through the dark street, Rhiannon starting feeling a decidedly worrying sensation of being watched.
For a moment, instinct almost lead her to hurry her pace, but that would be a tell-tale sign that she'd noticed something unusual, so she made herself continue walking normally, though she had her ears and her eyes wide open. Perhaps it was just fear making her feel like she was being watched. She was passing through a dark street and it was natural she'd feel weary.
But it wasn't just her imagination. She knew there was someone out there. Someone who did not have the best of intentions. Slowly, still walking, never stopping, and burying the panic away, Rhiannon reached for her bag, finding and gripping the hand-held taser she never left home without since arriving in Los Angeles.
And waited...

Declan didn't like the idea of waiting around for Leota. And he was hungry. Starving, in fact. So he'd decided to go grab a snack, hunt with Raquel for the first time. Nothing like a good hunt. Got the blood pumping.
Declan Clay was a rarity for a vampire. No reflection, but he was proud of his looks. Vampires retained their face forever, no aging. That also meant no spots, no skin diseases, no bags under the eyes. And he was proud that he was handsome, that he was beautiful. It helped with hunting. With beauty, came an automatic trust. Human beings were always shallow at first. Green snakes were ugly, children would run from them despite the fact they never attack humans. But most harmless looking frogs were poisonous.
Raquel was something special. He found himself wanting to protect her and be with her all the time, despite having known her for a very short time. Maybe it was a fleeting thing. But he didn't think so, somehow....it seemed genuine. Over 100 years of women, and she was still something truly unique. Currently, his arm was draped over her shoulders as they walked down the dark street, looking for any kind of helpless creature.
Then he saw something…a human girl. Pretty, too. A little on the skinny side, but the meat wasn’t important, it was the fear, and she was obviously lost. Meaning she was already afraid. Delicious. “Darling. There.” He said quietly, pointing.

“Darling. There.” He said quietly, pointing.
"Ah, very nice," she smiled up at him, her arms still encircled around his waist. "She smells of rosemary. Connected to the earth and the stars. Lost little soul," she remarked. "And so sweet she might hurt my teeth."

"Well, I guess I'll have to taste test her." he smirked as they glided closer to her.
"Excuse me!" he said, retaining his charming smile. "Excuse me, couldn't help but notice you look lost."

Raquel played along. "I'm telling you, Los Angeles is one of the most frightfully confusing cities in the world. Took me forever to find my way around town. And I'd still get lost if it weren't for his brilliant sense of direction," she said, smiling up at Declan.

He smiled back at her, and then back to the girl. "Need any help?"

Rhiannon was startled when she heard the voice. She'd almost taken the taser out of her purse, but she settled with just holding it tightly for a moment more before turning to look at the the man and the woman that had approached her. She knew someone was out there, watching. There was a certain feeling you got at the back of your neck when there were eyes on you. But she hadn't seen anyone behind her when she had looked, as inconspicously as possible. Except there were now two people where there had been none before, and Rhia's heart was ready to jump out her mouth.
The man didn't look dangerous at all. Attractive, charming, he had a nice smile and he seemed to be trying to be geniunely helpful. The woman looked completely harmless too, and they could be just another couple walking the streets of Los Angeles after or on their way to a date, a movie, a restaurant, anything.
Then why did she still feel like everything in her was telling her to run?
"I... yes, I kinda am," she finally said, smiling back at the couple. "I'm not sure how to get back to Madison Street. I'm not even sure where I am at the moment. Which has been happening quite frequently since I came to LA."

"Ah. Newcomer. New been in L.A too long ourselves, have we, Raquel?" he asked, breaking away from the redhead and moving closer to the girl, almost circling her, like a shark around it's prey.

"I'm convinced you could live here your whole life and never truly know your way around," Raquel commented. "This city...big, cold, heartless. Has a tendency to chew people up and spit them out. Or so I've heard."

"Which is why...it's good to get some help." he said, moving behind her. His face vamped out for a split second, just long enough for a knowing grin to Raquel, and then back again. "All kinds of...undesirables out here."

The sensation she had that something was wrong was intensifying and she really didn't know why. There really wasn't nothing that should be sending her all these warnings. Both the man and the woman seemed helpful and understanding of her little predicament. They seemed nice. But Rhiannon knew that appearances could be deceiving. Only that day she'd met a perfectly normal young man who'd proved to be half-demon.
But the way they were talking, the many ways their words could be interpreted, even the way the man was moving behind her... it served to make Rhiannon all the more nervous. She often took heed of what her senses told her, even if there really wasn't much to support them. She had always been a very instinctual person. Something was wrong here. Decidedly wrong. She felt a shiver go through her spine, and her hand tightened on the taser inside her bag.
She was being surrounded. Like a hunter circling its prey, waiting for the best moment to attack.
Oh, Goddess, please keep me safe.
"Yes, I've noticed it can be kind of harsh. So..." she spoke softly, afraid that if she made a move to run something would happen, but at the same time wanting to get away from here as fast as she could. "can any of you tell me how to find Madison street?"

"Oh, I don't know. Young girl like you, L.A, night life and all that....why don't you hang out with us for a while?" he asked with a predatory smile.

"Well, of course, she's more than welcome to accompany us," Raquel smiled. "We were just going to check out a new club nearby. But really, Dec, we shouldn't make assumptions. She looks like the bookish sort. And I think she's had enough surprises for one day. Probably wants to get home and rest."

OOC: Sorry this took so long.
Rhiannon wouldn't have called herself a person who scared easily. It wasn't that she had an overabundance of courage, but she had never really needed to fear much when she lived back in her old hometown. Shadows rarely turned out to conceal danger, and violence was subdued, and didn't happen often.
Perhaps she'd been brought up in too protective a community. She certainly hadn't felt ready to face a city like Los Angeles when she'd first come here. And she certainly didn't feel confident as she stook on this dark alley, with two strangers that seemed, on the surface, to be friendly, but that, for some reason she hadn't figured out yet, made her skin crawl. Scared her. The need to bolt was becoming stronger at each word they spoke. Especially the man's. It was a contradiction. He looked so nice on the outside, but his smile made her uneasy. Appearances could be deceiving, and this man with an angel's face was everything but, her instincts told her.
She'd always been the kind of person who got on well with people, who accepted them, didn't judge them before she met them and gave them many oppotunities to redeem themselves when they did something wrong. It was her nature to be open and friendly. Shy too, when it came to new people, but friendly, always. Except now. Her smile was forceful, her words light only with effort. It was a strange feeling, this irrational fear. They didn't look dangerous, they didn't act dangerous, but she was afraid. Rhiannon knew, though, that there were things that couldn't be explained.
She'd always been good at listening to her instincts, to her feelings. She paid attention to them now. She needed to leave and quickly and she didn't want to know why. Just wanted to go home.
"I left my grandmother at home," a lie, yes, since Siobhan had told her she would be late coming back, "so I need to go. I appreciate the invitation but I do need to get going. Maybe another time." She started walking away.
