The security guard stood, silent, sweating. Two others stood behind him, and all three eyed the door, probably estimating how fast they could escape before they were gutted.
"Could you repeat that?" asked Carver calmly.
"She's....she's gone, sir. Disappeared." stuttered the guard.
"OK." said Carver, and then lifted up a plate of fruit, and threw it against the wall, narrowly missing the guard's head until if smashed into the wall. "What does that mean? She's gone? Gone?"
Carver overthrew his desk, storming up to the security guard and seized him by the neck. "I want you to find her. You find her, and bring her here. If you don't, I won't even kill you. I'll kill your families, then I'll torture you for the remainder of your life until you wish you were dead." he said, and dropped the guard.
"Get out of my sight." he commanded, and the three guards headed for the exit. "Oh, wait, no, forgot something." he said, and was next to the guard in a second. He threw a fist, smashing in the guard's face as he kicked the second, who flew against the wall, breaking his neck.
The third guard attempted to run when Carver kicked out, dislocating his leg and then cutting through the air with his fist, sending the guard's head from his body.
"I'll talk to my contractors."

Carver slammed the phone down. He’d told Adam about the new situation, and right now he was terrified of telling Lilah. After years of wanting her, he’d finally got her, and now he would look like a fool. He’d find Cordelia, drag her back kicking and screaming, strap her down and make her stay.
He sighed, and prepared to tell Lilah.
