After her long day involving the normal Wolfram & Hart goings-ons (if that could even be called 'normal') and some certain treacherous people causing more than their far share of trouble, Kate was glad to be able to retreat to her office.
Pondering the various decanters and bottles in her cabinet she settled upon some bourbon and poured a more than generous amount into a glass.
Walking back over to her desk she sat in the tall leather chair, leaning back trying to relax after her stressful day.

Marcus barged through her door, holding his ribs slightly. "Kate." he grunted. "Did you read the report I forwarded? The one on Faith and Henry Elder?"

Rolling her eyes at the unwanted intrusion Kate downed the remainder of her drink.
"No, I haven't had the chance to look over that yet. I was kind of hoping that I'd get five minutes to myself today, but it looks like that's not going to happen."
She smiled at him, the annoyance in her voice not matching her facial expression.

"Yeah, well, no need to bother. Looks like Carver brought at least one of them in. The Senior Partners have put her in a holding dimension." he said, "Looks like Lilah's head is safe for now."

"Well, that's some good news at least."
Picking up her glass from her desk she made her way over to her drinks cabinet, pouring herself another bourbon.
"You look like you could use a drink." she remarked looking over her shoulder at his slightly disheveled state.

"There are a lot of things I could use." he said. "That damn vampire with the cuddly soul broke a few ribs."

"Well, there's not an awful lot I can do about that. My skills don't extend to those of a healer I'm afraid." She smirked ever so slightly as said that looking his way.
"Liquor, however I have, what'll it be?"

"Whatever's strongest." he said.

She picked up a bottle of twenty year old whisky and poured a glass and walked over and handed him the glass.
"That ought to do the trick." she said gesturing to the glass and taking a sip of her own drink.

He downed the glass, still feeling tired, beaten, and generally pissed off at that damn vampie.

She watched him as he drained the glass.
"Well, did that help?" she asked and paused to take a sip of her own drink.
She glanced down at his side which she'd noticed clutching before. "What happened to you?"

"That goddamn vampire happened to me. Carver's OK, of course, he has super-strength. Angel." he said, gritting his teeth. "Son of a bitch."

Kate was a little surprised to hear Carver with all his confidence and bravado admitting to his weakness in this situation at least, and to be honest she was slightly amused by the visual she'd conjured up in her head of Angel and Carver's brawl.
She managed to use just enough self-control to stop the smirk touching her lips.
She walked back over to her desk and lounged back into her chair, swirling her glass, thinking.
"Well, what are we going to do about that poor excuse for a vampire? Doubtless there's a grand plan in motion as we speak. Do you know about anything?"

MARCUS
"Beyond pain, I'm not really sure."
CARVER
With a brief knock, the door opened, and Carver walked in. "Marcus. Feeling better?"
MARCUS
He set his glass down, and stood. "Well enough." he said stubbornly. Without looking back at Kate, he pushed past Carver grumpily and headed out the door.

Kate watched Marcus walk out her office and then turned her attention back to Carver.
"Carver," she smiled in greeting, "You come to me with some kind of good news I hope."
