A hollowed out underground section of the city, crawling with rats. Against one wall is a massive, ancient, metal circular contraption, rusted and ruined. Old couches, chairs, a television and a computer are also strewn around the lair, working after the owners tapped into an electrical wire. A massive pile of rubbish from those living above lies in a corner, where the owners rummage through occasionally for anything useful. Every so often a sewer worker comes down, and then he never leaves. That’s because it belongs to St. Just.

ST. JUST
St. Just overlooked his kingdom. Kingdom. What a word. What was he now?
One human. Just one stupid human had stopped him. The time before that he’d attempted to resurrect the Old Ones, it had taken a slayer and the most highly trained members of the Watcher’s Council to stop him and his followers. And by the end, most were dead, including the slayer. He didn’t like to brag but slayers, well, they were easy.
And yet he had trouble with Gabriel Corvis, a stupid jackass with no comprehension of what he was dealing with. That was a very powerful spell he’d used, though. Must’ve taken a lot out of him. However, the point remained that St. Just, one of the most feared vampires in history, had been beaten, had most of his followers sucked into his own portal and been grievously injured by a human idiot.
Things were happening, above ground. General Leota Yun Kim had arrived in town, but she disappointed him. According to his spies she now slept with the subspecies, associated with deadbeats and beat on her most loyal troops. And she had showed so much potential, especially after defeating St. Just’s rival Elijah, something which he was grateful for. Elijah was nothing special, though, just a thorn in his side.
Corvis could be a problem. Once he’d regained strength, he’d try again, and Corvis would be the first to die. Fact.
He slowly got to his feet, making his way over to the stack of weapons. Swords, axes, gauntlets, whatever. He picked up his sword, ancient, from very old times. It had gotten him through many a situation. Admiring the blade, he set it down, and turned back to survey his kingdom. Kingdom. Huh. Not yet, but it will be. A new kingdom.
