Fred was sitting in the lobby alone, contemplating life, and talking to a chair. She turned seeing Wesley, he looked lost and puzzled..She jumped up and walked in a bouncy, happy way.
"Hey there! How are ya?"

Wesley stopped at the sound of Fred's voice, a little surprised. He'd heard someone talking, and it sounded as though they had been having a conversation, yet Fred was alone.
He scratched the back of his head distractedly, giving Fred a smile. "Hello, Fred. I'm...I'm doing fine. And you?"

Fred smiled, and rolled her eyes, "Well..yeah, a bit stuck on my theory, I was up all night trying to work in a theory by Einstien, but I am not sure...well anyway I was trying to work it out in the reception area, but it didnt help...listen to me going on...how are you?"

Wesley smiled as Fred rambled on, then looked around the room, trying to see if she had started writing on the lobby walls. "Have you...uh...made any progress with your theory?"

Fred giggled, "Not really, I have been looking closely at string theory and its association with inter-dimensional possibilities...but had no luck so far! I guess it will all come together in the end! What ya doin? Look like you're hittin the books yourself!"

"I daresay I've had enough of other dimensions. Quite happy to stay in this one." He looked towards his office, where he still had books strewn about the desk. "No, no research yet, Fred. The information we need right now doesn't come from a book. Only Wolfram & Hart has those answers." He smirked. "I do, however, need to brush up on my Krilick demon. Never know when you'll meet one in the streets and have him ask you for directions. I'd hate to misinterpret it as a threat."

Fred giggled, "Well sure...I mean that would be awful...to have a simple mistake like that on your hands...who are Wolfram and Hart? They who those men worked for? What do they do?"

Wesley nodded. "Yes. Those men that came in here earlier work for Wolfram & Hart." He sighed, trying to think of a way to explain it. "It's a law firm, but they have some dealings with things less...of this world. They tend to represent some of the worst fiends in this dimension." He gestured towards the basement, where Elder was being held. "And they use lackeys to have their ends met. That way there's no blood on their hands."

Fred followed where he pointed and became serious, walking round she sat in the chair opposite his desk. "Wait so that man was hired by a law firm to kill Faith? Why? Why if it wasn't his cause would he try so hard to finish the job?"

Wesley sank into his chair, leaning back and folding his arms across his chest. "Well, money can be a very strong motivation. For some." He looked at the surface of his desk for a moment. "It may surprise you what some people are willing to do if the price is right."

Fred shook her head, "Well I guess I've just been out of the dimension a little too long...or maybe its the small town girl inside me? I just don't understand it"

Wesley fiddled with a pen on his desk, spinning it in circles between his fingers. "Nor do I. I don't know that I could ever do something like that. I suppose it's something..." He shook his head. "I don't know what drives others to do it. So, no, Fred, it's not just you." He gave her a small smile.

Fred smiled, he rarely did smile, and she had not had an opportunity to speak with him often, she liked him "I am glad you wouldn't turn me in for money!"

His smile widened and he stopped messing with the pen. "Not for all the money in this dimension, Fred."
It was good to see her smile. So often she seemed scared, as if she were afraid her shadow was going to jump up and devour her. Perhaps she was getting used to normal life again? He smirked. Yes, because their lives were all so boring.

Fred smiled at Wesley, he was such a gentle and charming man, intelligent too, "She sat a moment enjoying the quiet and the company. "You like it here? Working for Angel?"
