When Wesley had left her to go to his office, Anna stepped hesitantly around the spacious lobby. Noticing that a banister was now broken, there was a fragment of an arrow on the floor, and what could possibly be blood splatter on the tiles. What on earth had happened here?
She heard a girlish yelp from the interior of Wesley's office and thought about investigating, but then saw that Faith was in the room with him. None of her business anyway. She sighed and sank onto the circular sofa, awaiting further instructions.

"I trust everything going well with gettig rid of the Banshee" appearing at the top of the stairs, he looked at the mess left from Carver and shrugged walking down "Sorry about the mess, those mormons just can't seem to take no for an answer"
He looked at Anna's nervous glances around the room "Hey, I'm sure everything will be over soon and you can get back to your nice little job back at the newspaper"

She looked up as she heard Angel's voice on the stairs. "Oh, right, those pesky Mormons," she said with a slight laugh. "I think Wesley needs a few more things. Part of a spell, maybe. But he's hopeful. Or maybe he's just projecting a false sense of optimism in order to calm my nerves. I can't really tell. Must be that British stoicism."
She wrapped her arms around her waist and cast her glance downward. "Yeah, my nice little job. Seems rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things, doesn't it?"

"Everything does when you find yourself in a world like this" he folded his arms and stood close to her "It gets easier, may not seem that way but it does" this was as close to comfrting as Angel could get with a complete stranger, truth was he didn't know how to be comforting anymore, not since he'd left Sunnydale, not since Buffy had died.
Looking to the office he smirked "You can rely on Wesley, he's one of the best, wouldn't have left the case to him if I knew he couldn't do it"

"It gets easier, may not seem that way but it does"
"Y'know, you should write for those greeting card companies," she joked. "But you're right. We learn, we change, adapt. But sometimes I think if I were given the choice, I'd rather be blissfully ignorant again."
"You can rely on Wesley, he's one of the best, wouldn't have left the case to him if I knew he couldn't do it"
"Oh, I'm sure. I have every confidence in him," she agreed. "I just don't want to risk him getting hurt. I tend to have that effect on people."

"He's used to it, the whole risking his life thing, he's done it a bunch of times" he shrugged again "Besides, I noticed he's taken quite a shine to you" it felt wierd what he was getting at, playing match maker was something he never really did "You should go for dinner or something after this is over"

She quirked an eyebrow at Angel's suggestion. "Right," she said slowly. "Because that would work out so well. I can see it now...'Mummy, Daddy, how did you meet?'...'Well, Mummy had a curse placed on her by her vindictive mother, and Daddy did a spell to lift it, and we all lived happily ever after."
She leveled her gaze at him. "Only there is no happily ever after for me. Lorne already said so. It's foolish to even get my hopes up," she sighed, shaking her head.

Angel always found it difficult to deal with someone who knew their future wasn't a very bright one, maybe it was because he didn't know what to say or maybe he just didn't know how to deal with someone else's problems so well. Standing there quietly his arms folded he searched for something to say to break the awkward silence between them.

She shrugged. "Not that I don't appreciate the effort," she offered. "After all, I'm guessing you have centuries of dating experience. I could probably learn a lot from you. It's just...fighting fate? I don't think I can. I'm not that strong."

"Let's just say I've had my share of heartbreak" he looked to the office, he could see Was was having a little talk with Faith, he could only faintly hear what he was saying, some of it sounded like he was more comfortable with her being around, looking back at Anna he nodded "Yeah, well, you'd be surprised what you can be capable of when you put your mind to it"

*Continued from A little light reading/Wesley's office*
Moments later, Faith burst through Wesley's office door. A frantic look crossed her features as she gripped the door frame and stared at Anna. With her tormenting memories still fresh in her fractured mind, Faith believed she was face to face again with Gwendolyn Post.

Looking to the office as he heard his name called, before he could move Faith came running into the lobby, seeing the wild look in her eyes he moved infront of Anna protecting her "Faith, what's wrong?"

Her gaze was blocked by Angel, and she briefly snapped out of her thoughts, unsure what to do next. A confused look crossed her face as she wondered why Angel would be protecting Ms. Post.
"Faith, what's wrong?"
"What are you doing?" She asked him, a slight betrayed tone to her voice. Slowly, she side stepped her way around Angel, and positioned herself behind the reception counter, as if it might offer some protection.
"You can't trust her..." she pointed to Anna, her hand trembling, her mind still tricking her into believing it was her former watcher.

Anna was surprised when Faith ran out of Wesley's office with a panicked look. When Angel stepped in front of her, she wondered what sort of situation she'd just gotten herself into.
"You can't trust her..." she pointed to Anna, her hand trembling, her mind still tricking her into believing it was her former watcher.
Anna held up her hands, as if being held at gunpoint by the LAPD. "I think I missed something here. Faith, I'm Anna. A client, remember? I'm not here to hurt you."

"I think I missed something here. Faith, I'm Anna. A client, remember? I'm not here to hurt you."
As Anna spoke to her, the hazy illusion of Gwendolyn Post lifted and Faith saw who it really was. But instead of easing her troubled mind, the confusion she now had seemed to only make things worse, and she looked intently at Anna, trying to figure out who it was really talking to her.
"I...don't understand...." Her voice waivered. She backed herself right to the end of the counter now. "...you were her...."
