Carver was blown back, smashing violently through the wall, into an office, smashing into a desk.

Faith's ears were bleeding a liitle from the pressure of the blast. She heard Angel speak to her, but it was muffled by the ringing in her head. Her instincts were telling her to trust him and as he pulled her along down the coriddor, she had no other option but to follow.

Carver slowly got to his feet. His shirt and blazer had been blown right off, a sharp piece of wood had dragged a cut along his abs. He spat blood to the floor, unable to even think straight.
"Where are they?" he bellowed at a security guard.
"They...uh.....got away." said the young man.
Carver couldn't express his rage in words. So he put his fist through the guard's heart.
Cleaning off the blood of the guard using the water cooler, he stood, and made his way back to Lilah's office.

Outside, in the lazy heat of night time L.A., Faith felt suffocated. She had gotten so used to the cold of her confinement, that the heavy warmth of the air closed in on her like an invisible cloak, sapping her energy, weakening her. She stopped struggling against Angel and pushed herself as far back as she could in the back seat of Henry's car. She remembered the smell, even though it seemed so long ago when she had last been in it. Back then she had just escaped a prison and what had happened soon after that, now made Faith feel uneasy.
With her knees drawn up in front of her and her hands hidden behind them, she sat, silently watching Angel. Trying to decide if he was real, or if he was yet another trick her mind was playing on her.
