Angel sighed and looked at his feet "About a week, time must move a lot faster in the hell dimension"

"Anyway...." he said, stepping fully into the room. "Why I'm here. Trouble, you have a lot of empty rooms, and I barely have a roof. Same goes for Shannon. So I want to stay here, and if I can, you have my services for free. Not that I'm finished working at what I normally do."

Faith thought she'd heard wrong. She untangled herself from Angel's arms and sat up looking at Henry.
"Wait a minute, back up." She turned back to Angel with confusion on her face.
"I've been gone a week, so maybe I missed the memo, but I'm just confused why he's still here? Are we forgetting he tried to kill me? Twice!"

Angel shrugged, he figured him being round here wasn't a good idea and he was trying to think of a way he could break it to her gently "Yeah but, he helped me get you back" he could see the disgust and disappointment in her eyes, he looked awaysuddenly feeling sick, he'd promised himself never to betray her feelings like that but he had and nowhe ahted himself for it.

She felt like her paranoia was running away with her reason. As far as she could recall, since it was such a long time ago to her, Henry worked for Wolfram and Hart. She couldn't comprehend how Angel was trusting him so much to let him wander around the hotel. Hell, he'd gotten so cosy, he'd invited himself to stay.
"Yeah but, he helped me get you back"
"For which I'm eternally grateful," she stood up now, her temper rising a little, "but he's the enemy. Are you just gonna let him move in down the hall next to Fred? I remember Fred, frightened, scared Fred who he pointed a very large gun at!" She pointed her finger at Henry, her wounded eyes still on Angel.

He stood up slowly and looked at her, hisanger starting to raise "Hey, I don't trust him as much as you do alright?" he raised his stump at her then realised and raised his right hand pointing "But right now we need all the help we can get against Wolfram & Hart and if it means having him here, under my roof, then so be it!"

Henry watched the scene with interest. "Well, Faith, you don't like me. I understand pretty well, but I'm not going to just leave. In fact, I did a little reading on you. I found some diaries that belonged to the English guy. As it turns out, you tried to kill Angel while working for Wolfram and Hart."
He stepped closer to her. "You have every reason to hate me....but you're not going to make me leave. I'm not the enemy. I'm just an independent contractor."

A wave of guilt ran through her like an electric shock, when he mentioned her past. It was true. Back then, Faith was so consumed with rage and anger at the world she had taken on her own 'independant contract' hoping it would result in her own death. She had prayed Angel would kill her, especially after she kidnapped Wesley and nearly tortured him to death. But instead he saw through her veil of hate to discover it was only herself she wanted to hurt.
Now here she stood, questioning Angel's judgement like she had any right to. Her head pounding as if lots of people were talking to her all at once and she struggled to pick out any one voice. She stared at Henry, struggling to keep the cork in on her feelings. Can I trust him, or is this still mind games? Am I gonna wake up to find he slit my throat in the night?
Only hours ago, she had been fighting demons in the dark of her cell. Her emotions purposefully shut down to make her more focused on the hunt. Now she was free, the pressure building inside her had popped the cork on that bottle and her feelings were spilling out uncontrollably.
"You have every reason to hate me....but you're not going to make me leave. I'm not the enemy. I'm just an independent contractor."
"If I wanted to make you leave, you couldn't stop me!" Her voice raised again and she was now shouting loudly at Henry.

"Really?" he asked, raising his voice to match hers. "Well, the only way I'm going to leave is if you kill me. You know, that thing you enjoy doing so much!"
He did feel guilty, guilty for what he'd done to her, what she'd been through, everything. But like so many times, he pushed it to the back of his mind.

Without thinking, she caught hold of Henry by the throat and pushed him up against the open door. Her face was right up next to his when she spoke through gritted teeth.
"Don't push me. I've had plenty of time to practice lately."

His face split into a grin. "You would still be there. Right now. If it wasn't for me. I was the one who killed the guardian demon. I was the one who beat that super human. It was all me." he said, and then added as an afterthought, "And, I guess Krychek over there helped a little."

If she hadn't turned to see the look on Angel's face she might well have knocked Henry spark out. But then her gaze fell on Angel's lack of hand, which it seemed he had lost on account of trying to save her. She let go of Henry and just stared at Angel, a sorrowful look in her eyes.
"I'm sorry..." It was almost a whisper as she spoke it. She put her hands to her temples and tried to stop her guilt rushing out, but there was too much and she couldn't help but let the tears fall from her eyes. Unwilling to let either of them see her break down completely, she backed up out of the door and ran off down the coriddor, past Fred's room and up onto the roof.

Again, the guilt. And again, he tried to push it back. Except it wasn't working. Putting on his usual face he let everyone see, he shrugged, turned to Angel and said, "Women, huh?"

Fred had been hiding behind the wall, hearing Faith and Henry fight frightened her. She did not run away though, instead she ran into the room, "Leave her alone!" she shouted at Henry, her fear for her friend bigger than her fear for herself.

"Leave her alone?" he asked, and pulled his sleeve up to reveal the three scars along his arm. "She did this to me. That, and all the cuts and bruises on my face. And I helped her. I rescued her. The thanks I get is her bitching at me for trying to do my job. And who are you anyway, twiglet?"
