Anna pursed her lips as Wesley began to read the spell. With no idea what to expect, she just stood off to the side, every muscle tensed as she clutched the weapon in her hands. Growing tenser and shivering as the temperature in the room suddenly dropped.
The familiar wail began to ring in her ears. She glanced at Wesley and judging from his pained expression, he heard it too. The piercing sound continued to build until she was forced to place her hands over her ears, her knees buckling weakly under her.
Finally, an eerie stillness settled over the room. Anna opened her eyes to see a towering figure standing within the circle of candles. A woman with silver-grey hair streaming to the ground and a grey-white cloak clinging to her tall thin body. Red eyes burned within her pale face. The banshee regarded Anna for a few long and painful moments before turning her attention to Wesley.
((OOC: Want Anna to make a little speech in Gaelic to distract her while Wes readies his axe?))

The temperature dropped again, and Wesley could see little puffs in front of his mouth as he finished the incantation. The shrill pitch continued to rise in volume until finally it became downright painful. But Wesley managed to push through, finally finishing the incantation just as a thin stream of blood began to flow from his nose. Then the sound stopped, and Wesley eyes fell on the thin form of the banshee.
He had to admit that he was spellbound. He'd never before seen a banshee in real life, so this was quite a bit of a shock for him. Which is one reason why her sudden cry and dive at him caught him by surprise. He managed to dive out of the way, but only just. He hit the floor and got into a crouch, looking up at the banshee as she stopped to study him again. His fingers closed over the handle of his axe, but he stayed where he was, eyes on the creature.

((And since I don't really know Gaelic, we'll all just assume that everything like :: blah blah blah :: is Gaelic, mmkay?))
She watched in horror as the banshee went after Wesley and knew she had to get its attention. "Hey, eyes on me!" she cried. She felt herself shrink a bit when the banshee's red eyes were trained on her again. "Yeah, I'm the one you want," she muttered, trying to summon up every ounce of courage as the banshee approached her.
:: "Welcome to the 21st century. Sorry you won't be staying long. It was my mother that summoned you. Trying to teach me a lesson. She wanted to torment me. To make me pay for betraying her. Well, when we send you back to whatever pit of hell you came from, tell her that she failed. I'm happy, I'm content, and I don't regret any of my decisions. No matter how many demons she sends to haunt me, I will never say I'm sorry." ::
She readied the sharpened end of the weapon she was still clutching. "Now, give me back my life, you bitch!" she hissed, jabbing the spear into the banshee's side. It emitted a deafening howl of pain and swiped at Anna, who ducked away toward a bookcase. She looked desperately to Wesley, awaiting his next move.

((*pats head* Not like we know it, so have at it.))
Wesley looked up sharply when Anna spoke, her words re-directing the banshee's attention to her. Wesley was more than a little rusty on his Gaelic, so he was only able to understand a bit of what Anna was saying. That small bit, however, was enough to get the general idea of the whole statement. Didn't take a genius to figure it out.
He watched, body tensed, as Anna struck the banshee with the business end of a spear, then duck behind a bookshelf. He caught her eye and gave a slight nod. Then, hefting the axe up, he got to his feet and rushed at the back of the ancient creature, swinging the axe at her neck.

Anna kept her eyes averted, not really wanting to see. But the noise was vivid enough. She looked up slowly to see the decapitated form of the banshee slumping to the floor, as her head rolled to a stop by the office door.
Anna let out a lungful of air and relaxed her posture, looking at Wesley. "We did it. It's done, right?" she asked.

After Angel had sniffed around Cordelia's apartment, he went for a drive. There were a lot of things going on and Cordelia going missing and wanted for murder only added to the list. As he pulled in next to the hotel there was a shattering scream. Jusr as he was about to open the door, the glass exploded in his face. Angel was hoping he could go a few more weeks without anything else happening to his face. Not only did he have a cross shaped burn which was steadily fading but now he had to pick glass out of it.
Getting on his feet he stepped through the door and walked behind the recpetion area and looked doen to see a banshee head roll to his feet. Picking it up he walked to the office and held the head up "Everything go okay then?"

Anna had started to follow Angel out into the lobby, but just as quickly was back in the office, flattening herself against the door. "Wesley, we've got company," she said in a hushed tone. Grimacing as she realized the banshee head was still in her arms, she set it on the floor and and tried to get as far away from it as possible.

To say that Wesley was shooken up would be a massive understatement. He felt the shock reverberate through his arms as the sharp end of the axe hit the banshee's neck, then felt it give a little bit as it went all the way through. He watched, his teeth clenched as the banshee's head separated from it's body and rolled onto the floor. He looked up at Anna, nodding at her question. "It's done," he said, then dropped the axe.
Then he looked up at Angel, giving the vampire a nod as he straightened up. "We've got it, Angel. Nothing we couldn't handle with a little teamwork," he said with a nod at Anna. He then turned to pick up the remnants of the spell, and to catch his breath. Inches from the banshee's grasp..inches from death. He was busy putting everything away when Anna came back into the room, looking a little shocked, which was saying something seeing as how they'd just beheaded a banshee.
Welsey frowned. "Company? Who?"

"I dunno. Rumpled suit and tie, short hair, looks kinda' like a cop," she replied. "Angel didn't seem too surprised to see him. Can I help you with anything?"

"I dunno. Rumpled suit and tie, short hair, looks kinda' like a cop," Anna said, not looking very pleased about the revelation as she skirted around the banshee head. Wesley frowned, wondering just why a cop had decided to come to the hotel. And why now of all times, when they had a decapitated body on the floor. Granted, it was a demon body, but it looked quite human. And it was a body. Things like that tended to make police a little jumpy.
"Angel didn't seem too surprised to see him."
Wesley shrugged. "Well, he wouldn't. Sadly, we've had our fair share of visits from the men in blue. Too many suspicious activities, one might say."
"Can I help you with anything?"
He looked around, then nodded to the circle of sand on the floor, now quite deformed what with the running about and wind and all. "We'll need to get that cleaned up too. And quick, before the cop decides to come in here. Don't want to see like cultists, do we?" he said with a small grin, then proceeded to put the used candles back into a cabinet.

"Oh, absolutely not. Wouldn't want to give people the wrong impression," she agreed, looking around for something to sweep up with. "So the police are frequent visitors then? Maybe I should get some donuts to go with that coffee out there."
She paused in her cleaning to address Wesley. "It's really over, right? I'm gonna' be okay?" she asked, trying to sound like she believed it.

"So the police are frequent visitors then? Maybe I should get some donuts to go with that coffee out there."
"Now, I wouldn't really say frequent visitors. They do...come around from time to time, however. It's not surprising, considering what we do and what we deal with." He scratched the back of his neck idly as he contemplated what to do with the headless banshee body. This was just the wrong time for a cop to show up. Thinking quickly, he grabbed an old blanket from one of the cabinets, starting to wrap the body in it, making a disgusted face as he did.
"It's really over, right? I'm gonna' be okay?"
Wesley stopped his wrapping to look up at her, then stood, going to put a hand on her shoulder. He gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "It's over, Anna. All we've got to do now is get rid of...it. Then it's all over."

She tried to read his expression, which seemed sincere enough. "Right," she nodded. "Post-spell clean-up and demon body disposal...never let it be said you don't know how to show a girl a good time."
She went to kneel at the opposite end of the wrapped blanket. "So where are we going with...it?"

Wesley made a face and rubbed the back of his neck in response to her question. Usually he would just say to bring it through the lobby and chuck it into the basement. But that was going to be a bit difficult, what with the police officer standing outside. He glanced around for a moment. "Perhaps we could get it out of the window, then bring it back into another room?" he asked, unsure.

"Why is this starting to resemble a sitcom? Or one of those door-slamming British farces?" she remarked, furrowing her brow. "Maybe I should say I'm with the Halloween decorating committee, and you guys really want to get an early start on things..."
"Um...Wesley..could..uh..could you come out here for a second" he looked back at Hayes then back to his office "There's a Detective Hayes here..wants to talk about Cordelia"
Her eyes widened as Angel's voice drifted in from the lobby. In all the banshee-banishing, she hadn't had a chance to tell Wesley about their fears for Cordelia. "Sounds like the boss needs you," she observed. "And I was going to tell you about Cordelia, but you had so many things on your mind. I just didn't want to distract you," she said quickly, hoping the guilt wasn't too evident in her voice.
